Arti Harchekar CNU-A

Arti Harchekar joined Townscape, Inc. in 2013 as an Associate. She is a graduate from the University of Notre Dame with a Master of Architecture and Urban Design degree. Her curriculum at Notre Dame included extensive studies in Italian and North American urban environments. Arti also has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Urban Studies from the University of Texas at Austin. Over the past eight years, Arti has focused her professional and academic efforts on the creation of sustainable communities by way of place-making and urban design.

Prior to joining Townscape, Arti worked with Gateway Planning Group, Inc. in Ft. Worth, Texas as an intern and with Good Fulton and Ferrell as a Senior Planning Coordinator. While with Gateway Planning Group, Arti was responsible for calibrating several form-based codes within the Dallas metro area. This experience is supplemented by municipal planning positions in Austin, Mesquite and Rowlett.

Arti's municipal experience includes the successful development and implementation of corridor revitalization, neighborhood revitalization, traditional neighborhood, town center and transit oriented plans and implementation strategies; comprehensive plans which focus on urban design, sustainability and market capture; as well as, the calibration and implementation of form-based codes. Several projects under her management have won awards from the American Planning Association Texas Chapter.

At Townscape, Arti functions as the Urban Design Officer for the City of Rowlett, Texas. She is responsible for acting as a liaison between the City and the development community in order to generate the best project for the community under the form-based code. Arti also manages a broad range of town planning and urban design projects.

In addition to her professional work, Arti serves as a Board Member for the Congress for the New Urbanism (CNU) North Texas Chapter. Arti is also an active member of the American Planning Association (APA) Texas Chapter.
